The Seattle Children's Theatre: Six Plays for Young Actors (Young Actors Series)
Published in Paperback by Smith & Kraus (August, 1996)
Average review score:

WONDERFUL!The Seattle Children's Theatre is one of the leading companies in the field of theatre for youth. This collection of plays is an example of how they have reached that status. Each play is well written, quality theatre. If you are looking for more than the slapstick, silly plays often written for children look here. These plays are stories of the heart and of real life situations often seen from the child's perspective. At the same time they are not overly sentimental or sappy. I can't wait to be able to produce any one of these plays myself!

I love this book! These Junior League books are great! I love them. I have the other Seattle Junior League book and I use that one all the time. (Yum - chicken cous cous salad!) This book is packed full of favorites - easy stuff you can make on the weeknights. I love the menu planning feature in the beginning of the book because sometimes it is hard to put together a whole meal that works. They do it for you!

Seattle Now and Then
Published in Hardcover by Tartu Pubns (December, 1994)
Average review score:

4 starsA collection of historical articles and documents of Seattle Washington, from its founding in 1852 up to the present day. Taken from a colleciton of newpaper articles written by Paul Dorpat for the Seattle Times. The book focuses on the historical disticts of Seattle from 1852 until now. Thus the title "Now and Then" A very entertaining and readable book, broken up in short article like segments. Many are accompanied by photographs from the neighborhoods they were written about, that were taken during the era of the story. Photos of comtemporary views are also included to show the same place, many years later. The book, the second in a series of three so far by this author. Unforuntatley I have not been able to locate the first in this series. I do have volumn 3 however. There are one hundred and twelve stories in volume 2. My favorite is about the Six Bridges to West Seattle. The article tells of opening day for the "new High bridge" in 1983 with a band and parade. The original had been built in 1910 In 1851 the frustrating task of getting to and from West Seattle begun, and this was a much looked for solution. Beautiful photographs are included on the same pages. A must read for Seattle livers, and lovers of history. It makes a wonderful gift. I know because it was given to my for my birthday by my good friend Karla. Thanks very much Karla Enjoy, Kevin Haddenham

The Seattle Super Shopper : The Savvy Shopper's Guide to the Greater Puget Sound Area
Published in Paperback by JASI (December, 1994)

One useful bookThe Seattle Super Shopper is a great book. The amount of stores that Vicki Koeplin went to and discussed is enormous. Plus all the information wriiten about each is sure to help you find exactly what you are looking for, and find it discounted, too. The time she spent on the book is probably way too many to count. I recommend this to anyone interested about shopping and finding great deals too

A very nice overview of the Seattle region...simply superbThe photgraphy by Ms. McIntyre makes this gift book stand out. I was impressed by its emphasis on the region, not just the downtown skyline. For a preview of the Seattle area, this is a good introduction.

Seeing Seattle
Published in Paperback by University of Washington Press (October, 1994)
Average review score:

Great book for tourists and nontouristsMy wife and I really enjoyed using this book. Walks on Capital Hill to Magnolia to Pioneer Square revealed many things that we did not take the time to notice before.
Our favorite was probably Capital Hill, it tooks us about 3.5 hours to complete and we've done it many times since.
At the heart is a well thought out table of contents, which allows you to quickly locate your desired topic. Quicker than the blue pages, white pages, or the Internet; I love it.
This is not a high-design product, but it is very functional. For example, the binding allows the book to lie flat (no more 1-handed reading).
Highly recommended
